>>41312726 >>41314714 Hm? Here where? Down? What's a voice doing down?
>Ferret stared at his own feet for a moment, crouching down and picking at his own toes individually and waiting for one of them to say 'ow'.
Are you trying to say something, pinky toe? I'm trying to murderise and brutalise and explodalise, here! Don't interrupt my genius!
>That is, of course, when he saw the window not too far away, cracked open but covered in moss. Wandering over to it, the man's figure comes into full view, peering into the darkness, a bomb bouncing in his free hand. Ooooooooh... that's a down!
>>41315281 >>41314714 >As Cassie called out to the maniac upstairs to let him know just where the pair lay in hiding, Jessica's eyes instinctively widened as she prepared for her opponent to show himself. Whatever Cassie's strategy was, she had no choice but to trust in it now and hope he could hold onto his own end of the fight.
>Propped up against the shadows of the alcove she had climbed in, Jessica would be virtually invisible to Ferret whilst his head slipped right between the cross hairs of her weapon. Taking a long deep breath and holding it in, Jessica adjusted one final knob on her weapon's surface that would fine tune the weapon's focal point before flexing her finger and firing off a blinding white streak of magic straight for her enemy's exposed head.
>>41315281 >Cassie's arms fell limp and he frowned at the initial lack of response. Really? Were they getting attacked by a guy who was that dumb? Or was this the norm among soft-ears?
>>41315391 >He fights the instinct to hit the ground at the shot. The boom echoes off the walls and rings in his ears. Cassie still twirls his hands in ancient flowing motions, stepping forward just so to get the correct stance his masters taught, and sends a powerful burst of wind that blows his hair back towards the enemy above.
>The moment he peeked out, a huge zap to the face caused his awkward haircut to stand completely on end, frying him with an electrical surge that left his whole body feeling numb.
BZZBBBZBZZBzzbzbzbzBZBzbbzbZbzbzbbZBZBbZAPPO
>Once he felt his body come under his control again - well, almost, his peg-leg kept twitching at random intervals and causing him to stumble slightly, Ferret rushed over to the edge of the window and peered down into the depth below.
Curious, cuuuuurious little hidey-hole place, but I sees you now, yeeeessss...
>Gripping the window and using what could be considered a freakish amount of agility and dexterity, Ferret hopped over the side and started scaling the mixture of rock, earth and carved stone that made up the near-vertical wall as though it were a mere minor inconvenience-
>BWOOSH
>Only to be blasted by a huge gust of wind moments later! It was bad enough that his arms and leg felt numb but catching that was just bad for him! What little grip he had left on the rock faltered, and it took every effort just to keep attached - and at this height...
>His peg-leg spasmed from the earlier shock causing him to swing wildly off the rock, the wind-blasted fingertips immediately sliding off.
badbadbadbadBADBADBADBADBADBADBAD
>WHUMPH
.......oooooooooooooooowwwwwww............
>Thirty foot drops were nothing to laugh at, even the most dexterous of people. Thankfully Ferret was falling into the raised part of the old cathedral, or it could've been a lot worse.
>As his groans echoed throughout the underground area, it was pretty clear that the pair were still safe from explosives, at least for the moment.
>>41318394 >>41318464 >>41318473 >>41318475 >Watching the idiot maniac get slammed off the wall by Cassie's wind magic, Jessica watched as he fell from a fairly long distance to the ground and waited for a the man's body to settle from the shock of impact. Then, without so much as breaking her stride, the pirate captain aimed her pinpointed weapon at the man before cycling another blast from the weapon's core and firing at her downed enemy.
>There could be no mercy for the men who had killed her crew and destroyed her ship. In her heart of hearts, Jessica felt nothing but bitterness for these murdering men who would just as easily slaughter her as they had the rest of her crew. But even as she looked to execute the men for their choices in life, a small part of Jessica wondered if she would be any different from them had their roles were reversed and hating the fact that she doubted her own answer to that question.
>>41318464 >They were safe for now, though he didn't want to wonder how long the sickening crash of a body falling from that height would stay in his memory. The young elf sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. With the guy now stuck in there too, he could easily blast the captain and himself out of the hole with a bit of magic, and they'd lose him. He turned to look back at Jessica--
>>41318512 >--and immediately hit the ground when another blast of magitech energy sailed over his head. He had to get rid of that habit.
He's wounded! >the elf shouted, peering at her from his spot on the dusty floor, hands over his ears, We can leave him behind, y-you don't have to kill him!
>Slowly coming to a stand after the fall, the crazed man didn't seem to be using the strange agility he had before, perhaps due to the sheer shock of the blows he'd received very recently. Nonetheless, he gripped the grenade launcher and roused himself - just in time to hear the ping of a crystal charging up.
>His luck and agility gave him just enough time to shift out of the way, the lightning grazing his shoulder and providing a nasty burn but nothing the man couldn't shake off.
>>41320144 Yes, yes! Listen to pointy, no shoot! No shoot! It'll make everything easy peasy squeezy pleasy!
>And thus he darted out from the side of the upper area, standing at the top of the large set of stairs and levelled his grenade launcher, firing out a rather chilly-looking crystal grenade in the direction of the sniper!
>>41320144 >Having fired off her shot towards the maniac criminal, Jessica turned to face Cassie after he called out for her to let the dangerously insane pirate off the hook and they just part ways kindly after trying to kill each other.
>With wide uncomprehending eyes, Jessica watched her ally intently as he motioned for her to stand down in the face of imminent danger.
What the Flame are you...
>>41320588 >>41320590 >But with her eyes taken off the enemy it was easy for him to fire off a charged crystal in her direction and have it detonate - its explosion cutting her in a few places over her arms and legs whilst her clothes and skin were covered in a thin layer of frost.
>With rage in her eyes over the mistake she'd made and the idiocy her "friend" was trying to talk her into, Jessica rose to her feet, rising out of the shadows of the alcove and raised her voice for Cassie to hear as plain as day.
Shut up and GET BACK IN THE FIGHT!
>She thundered with incredible forcefulness.
>Raising her rifle, the pirate captain clutched the weapon tightly as she pressed its stock in the hollow of her shoulder as she spun up the crystal charge and fired another blast of blue/white lightning at her target.
>>41320588 >>41321263 >He thought the crazy pirate would stay down, considering how nasty the shot was and how the handsomely moustached one was just knocked out earlier. Cassie's position on the ground gave him a nice view of the chilly charge sailing overhead and exploding on impact against the captain. These humans were mad, fighting without any regard to their surroundings, abusing magic in such disgusting ways. It made him physically sick--or maybe that was just Jessica shouting at him.
>The elf pushed himself onto wobbly feet and gulped. Even with the captain's encouragement, he didn't feel good about the situation. He raised his hands, again, and sent another visible gust of air at the maniac, aiming to knock him onto the ground.
>>41321263 >Ah, lightning, one of the few things faster than he was. His whole body pulsed with numbness as the second shot blasted across his arm, his only saving grace being the various pieces of leather and wood strapped to his body as some strange form of defence.
Bzpzpzpzpzp, you gotta stop that, lady!
>>41321320 >Luckily for him, the shocks were at least keeping his attention focused, the blast of wind was poorly timed and given that it came right after a loud battlecry, it was relatively easy to see. Hopping down the stairs as the rush of wind breezed by above him, the crazed pirate took out a slightly different, larger-looking bomb from whatever kind of utility-belt he seemed to be wearing.
The best way to deal with itsy bitsy rats is to flush'em out of their itty bitty hidey holes! So come on ratta-tat-tatties, RUN!
>And just like that, he tossed the beeping grenade into the center of the room, quickly fitting himself with a mask. Instead of an explosion, however, smoke started to pour very quickly out of several holes in the canister.
>>41321910 >>41321320 >Rather than running, Jessica hunkered down in a prone position to take careful aim for the first time in the fight. With the smoke flooding through the stone ruins, Jessica grit her teeth and opened her mouth even as she lined up the sights on the madman's head.
Handle the smoke Cassie, I'll take care of the pirate!
>She called out, hoping that the mage would be able to pull off one of his magical tricks to clear the room of its gas.
>>41321910 >>41323080 >Good on him for trying, right? Even if it didn't do anything more than ruffle the pirate's hair... or the patches of scruffy fluff he called hair. Cassie took a few quick steps back, further away from the more dangerous madman in the room. This time, he just flinched as the canister clinked against the ground and bounced closer. His natural curiosity of human inventions was sated the moment it started spitting out smoke.
R-right!
>He didn't need the captain to tell him that, but, whatever. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, the elf swayed his hands and shoved the smoke itself away with his magic.
>The blast of wind sent the smoke across the room in a huge wave, the still-releasing canister barely making much of a screen for Ferret to hide in. Staggering back slightly from the sudden gust, it seemed the crazed pirate was still unfazed, his grin eerily present upon his face the entire time.
Ohohohohoheheheee, I see, I see! I spy with my little eye something beginning with MAGICKS!
>That wasn't how the game was played, but it was probably best not to tell him that.
Well, TWO can play at that game!
>Reaching into a crate on his back marked 'BIRTHDAY PRESENTS', Ferret pulled out a bright blue glowing orb that fit into the extra-large barrel of the launcher, which he had yet to use, before pointing at the roof and pulling the trigger!
>The orb fired with a trailing blue mist before bursting above them, with shards of ice falling indiscriminately upon the battlefield!
