>The balance of each of the surface world's great nations and, in fact, the very shape of said world's political landscape, resides in the individual strengths and attributes of each of the great human empires. Where it not for the balance of power, it is incontestable that man's greed and ambitions would have shifted the known world's landscape in quite dramatic fashions until new empires and countries where born and settled, or else till humanity found itself embroiled in an endless war over ever shifting lines of power and ownership. For example, Terminia is an empire whose geographical size and population is attributed by many scholars to the immense geological wealth that resides over this expanse of land (silver, gold, crystal and such). As such, even though its cities and armies are undoubtedly technologically and socially inferior to its neighbor nations, it is nonetheless capable of retaining its shape by supplanting its imperial army with the services of a mercenary bands - the sheer number of which that are able to operate in Terminia is perhaps the most overt sign of the Empire's overwhelming wealth.
>But where Terminia is able to hold itself together and validate itself as an empire by its economy, Astrolia is capable to existing in large part due to the hostile nature of the terrain said Empire presides over. Each Astrolian city is isolated from its counterparts and yet each settlement exists as a veritable bastion of civilization against an all-encroaching nature whose relentless approach turns even the smallest children into hardened survivors capable of living in even the most inhospitable of terrains. To marshal an army into Astolia's monster infested mountains and attempt to lay siege on its reinforced cities would be no less than a gruesome waste of life for any nation foolhardy enough to dare try.
>But where Astrolia is an empire that is able to build its identity out of the difficult terrain its citizens call home, it is well known throughout the discovered world that Aelestus dominates its counterpart nations in terms of technological research and theological progress. When humanity advances, it does so through the new discoveries made in Aelestian colleges and temples where progress is the prime prerogative of its individual members. Referring then back to the original thesis of empirical boundaries existing for practical purposes of the world order, what then stops the Terminian masses from boiling over into Aelestus is the sheer technological prowess of its army that is then able to match Astrolia's tamed monstrosities with man-made wonders discovered in faith borne institutions, and as such, it is my theory that the conflict presiding over the Ruby Isles is one that will not easily be concluded as the shifting of political power in our world is one that must unavoidably come at great cost.
>But even if it is well known throughout the surface world that Aelestus is the place in which humanity shines brightest of all, it is a sad fact that the rest of humanities more barbaric masses remain unenlightened to the specifications and details that make up much of our temples and their inter-disciplinary pursuit of further knowledge through the enlightening lens of faith. As such, it is no understatement to say that in no other Empire of the world exist any accurate depiction of the great temple arches nor the sheer all-imposing marvel that is Kantarus.
>It is this lingering darkness that plagues humanity that lingers in the wake of the Judicator's enemies and one we must all strive as a species to vanquish. Through ingenuity and progress humanity will be made worthy of its gods.
