>>41114832 >Well, on the bright side, he was going to be alive for the foreseeable future. What Termina would rule on him once they realised he was the one who'd been regularly stealing their so-called 'relics', he didn't know, but right now he was still breathing, and that was a positive. The chill kept creeping up on him, so at the very least he could attempt to cure that, but looking around he knew that trying to break free of the handcuffs might just result in his death.
>A very slight warmth coursed through him, but his body made no struggle to indicate an escape attempt.
Who'd have thought I'd be caught by an ice mage of all things... what a cruel irony.
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 16 Oct 2015 11:05:15 PM No.41114849>>41115501
>>41114839 >Well she saw that he held some ignorance about his element. But that can all be corrected later.
What type of magic had nothing to do with it, it's how one utilizes it to gain the upper hand.
>She gets up off of him now that she had back up and hoists him up to his feet. Keeping locked up for now was going to be... difficult. Given that the only place to hold him for now was basically a big box of matches. Perhaps leaving him tied up in the middle of the fort where most of not all the personnel can keep an eye on him would be a better bet.
Now come on, I don't wanna have to break you to get you to listen. Talent like yours is hard to come by.
>She pushed him towards the outpost he had tried to flee from. This was going to be his home for the night, until he was taken along with the Caravan that would bring him and the relic he tried to steal to the last place he wanted either of them to be.
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 17 Oct 2015 4:28:08 PM No.41115501>>41115810
>>41114849 >Several days on the road later... >They finally arrived in Empyrean, the capital of the great kingdom of Termina. Hectic as always with people going about their daily business and the Royal Guard doing patrols.
>Patrick now shackled in iron rather then ice, was carted through the middle of the city with his captor. The General always made a point to parade what rats she's arrested in the name of the King. To show those around her that obeying the law is always a good thing... and to make the face of the criminal known to the masses. Should he find a way to free himself, he'll be marked man and turned away by those that would rather not deal with the Icy General when she's on the hunt.
>Though busy streets and past towering buildings they go, while a criminal she had in tow, the people of the Church were not ones to be kept waiting. That had to be her first stop, though it might be a boon as well. If this man made a habit of stealing relics the Church sought, they'd know for sure. They higher-ups could be a vindictive lot after all.
Patrick Frye!pR.BaFF/uk 17 Oct 2015 7:51:21 PM No.41115810>>41115847
>>41115501 >Ice cream, iced tea, fruit-ice smoothies, chilled meals, soda with ice. Sure, for a prisoner he was being treated alright as far as sustenance was concerned, but what was with this woman's taste!? Where was the legendary curry of Empyrean, or the spicy astrolian drake kebab, or the terminian fire peppers? All of these delicious tangs, tasteful twists and delicious heated flavouring gone, replaced by these chilled, far too smooth a muted meals!
Uuuugh...
>Grooowwwlll. >Damn his hungry stomach, damn it to hell. If he knew it was going to be like this, he would've jumped ship the first day after he rested, but unfortunately that blasted woman was with him continually, acting as protection should he try anything. Sighing deeply, he looked across at his captor with a sharp yet weak glare, still considering whether it'd be worth the risk of trying to escape while he could.
Why is it that you're specifically going out of your way to find me food that I hate? Do you get kicks out of seeing me suffer? Is that it?
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 17 Oct 2015 8:37:30 PM No.41115847>>41115897
>>41115810 >The General nods as she takes another lick of her chocolate n' vanilla swirl ice cream cone.
Yes, I do. And now you'll think twice before trying to steal something that belongs to Termina.
>Though were the tables turned she'd probably be upset as well. Being born in a place where keeping warm meant life or death meant hot meals were common place in Frost Fade. Hardy stews, smoked meats, pies fresh out of the oven... Though for the same reason, she also loved cold things as well and subjected Patrick to most of it if not all of her favourites on the cold side of the spectrum.
Though maybe if you asked nicely I would have let you have some of that rabbit stew last night.
>Nicely as in begged. Even then she may not have. Because he made a cute face when he was upset which was a treat in and of itself.
>As she taunted him they approached the church in all it's gaudy glory. Victoria frowns as they get closer, she didn't very well enjoy being around the supposed holy men of the Flame. Perhaps it's because her people grew up outside of their grasp. That same cold that forced them underground forced also kept clerics from going that far north at all. Her first exposure to their ilk is when she finally joined the military and she demonstrated her power of the cold. Paid her little mind before then and only after that did they swarm at her like rats upon a fresh corpse. And all she saw them as, well groomed rats. No strength of their own aside from numbers and doctrine, hiding behind both like a rodent hides from a cat inside a hole in the wall. Not to say they were all like that, the mages of the Church were strong and that earned her respect.
Patrick Frye!pR.BaFF/uk 17 Oct 2015 9:26:35 PM No.41115897>>41117447
>>41115847 Hey, I do think twice! It's just that both of them lead to the 'eh, why not' line of thought.
>And he would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for this meddling bitch and her mangy breasts. No, wait, that wasn't very fitting. Why did 'mangy' come up? Maybe he heard it somewhere else.
Besides, they're round.
>Confidently nodding to himself as he re-affirmed his own point, he folded his arms and stared out of the window.
Rabbit's too small. Get something like a roasted wyvern tail with a tinge of venom to add to that extra tang. Man, when was the last time I had that...?
>The buildings passed by, one by one, until the spires of the church appeared. Clearly this wasn't going to go well for him - if he tried to escape now he'd have a seriously hard time going anywhere with all the security they usually place around cathedrals and the like.
Tch... always hated this city, and here we are going right to the worst part.
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 19 Oct 2015 7:14:11 AM No.41117447>>41117448
>>41115897 >So he's normally that foolish, well she supposed bravery came with a dash of recklessness. Which lead to his situation now.
...What's round?
>She tilts her head in curiosity unaware of how prominent her 'assets' were in her uniform. >His remark about rabbits and wyvern tails makes her hum in thought.
Last time I had one was in Astrolia, I should return there when I have the time.
>She had been there once for a spot of hunting the local wildlife. The Dragoon that she hunted with didn't mind that she was of Termina. Another one that challenged the strong like she was. More for fun then from proof of power, but the General could understand such motivations. >But such musings had to come to close as the caravan stopped before the doors of the church and the General gets up from her seat. With a sigh she gives a tug on the chain that connected to his shackles.
Come on then, the faster I deliver the relic and the priests get a good look at you, the faster we can both leave here.
>A solider promptly opens the door from the outside and the woman steps out expecting the mage to follow her.
Patrick Frye/(BaffNoTrip) 19 Oct 2015 7:32:04 AM No.41117448>>41117453
>>41117447 >Whoops, maybe he should be a tad more careful with his words, lest the frosty wrath come his way once again. Still, for being a prisoner it wasn't as horrifically terrible as it could've been, particularly given past experience.
Well, your taste in food is better than I thought.
>Which made it all the worse that he'd been subjected to this lackluster menu for so long! How long would this have to go on? Patrick had no idea when he'd be getting out of this or even if he would do so alive, particularly with the Church supposedly involved.
>But then she said something so curiously odd that he couldn't help throwing back a laugh. As she tugged he got up as expected, but he did so with an interested grin on his face.
'The faster we can both leave'? Am I actually a prisoner, here, or are you just dragging me around in chains for the fun of it? Why would you drag me all the way up here if it wasn't to lock me up?
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 19 Oct 2015 9:08:33 AM No.41117453>>41117455
>>41117448 >Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm more or less both, but even then there was more reason for it then her own entertainment.
Oh you'll probably be locked up. But not until after I've confirmed something about you.
>The General continues to walk towards marble stairs of the church but stops short of actually ascending them.
What I know so far is that you attacked a military instillation to steal a relic that the Church so desires. Alone was well. Additionally you use fire at an intensity that I haven't seen among our fire mages.
>As the tall heavy doors of the church swing open, she continues.
Which, coincidently, fits the description of a man wanted by the Church for stealing relics from excavation sights and on their way to the capital. Now, I wouldn't care as much if it didn't mean my men that are stationed at these places can finish the day without burns or ruined property to replace. The Church's problems are their own, but you have the misfortune of becoming my problem as well.
The answer I get decides what I shall do with you.
>And from the giant doors of the holy building waddles a high priest. A middle aged man who rapidly losing the orange hair upon his head and possessing an unsightly amount of weight which was only more painfully apparent the purple and gold robes that struggled not to rip apart under the pressure. Accompanied by two guards that would rather by else where, the tubby man walks down the stairs huffing and puffing all the way as if he were running a marathon. How pathetic it all was is all the General can think as she stops herself from making her displeasure all too apparent.
Ah.. *Huff Puff* Good good! You're finally here General! Is... *wheeze* the relic secure?
>Victoria nods and produces the case that it was stored in to the high priest.
Yes! Perfect! I just knew entrusting you with the task was the right choice! I trust there was no trouble at all?
I wouldn't say that... Someone else wanted it as much as you did.
>Gesturing to the man next to her, the priest looks at him with disdain, like one would at pile of filth.
And who is the mongrel then? Some petty bandit? Why would you bring vermin like him here?
I was hoping that you... or perhaps someone else would happen to know more about him actually. As it was the Church that wanted a man, a fire mage, for stealing artefacts that you wanted.
>The implication of her words too a moment to register with the man, probably all the blubber between his ears and brain, but he soon understood what she meant and he was shocked.
Could this be him then!? But... he looks like a street rat! Are you sure it's not some impersonator? A ruse to gain undeserved attention!?
>The priest backs away from him and holds the case away from Patrick as it would burst into flames if he gazed upon it for too long.
I assure you, he is no impersonator. His abilities are those exactly detailed in reports. I simply wish to have conformation on both sides before I desire what to do with him.
Patrick Frye/(BaffNoTrip) 19 Oct 2015 9:28:14 AM No.41117455>>41117456
>>41117453 >Shit. He should've known that his antics involving those antiques were going to get reported in. Were the relics really important enough to warrant an official search? Besides, he'd only taken a few! Or five. Or twenty. Twenty-two specifically.
>But thankfully this fat bastard didn't seem to know anything about him, and was even assuming otherwise! In fascination and amusement, he turned to look at his captor with a smirk.
A General, huh? Who'd have thought?
>Guess that explained the hyperfrost and the general attitude she held, which was much more carefree and knowledgeable than your standard soldier. Unfortunately for him, her capabilities as a General were really putting him at risk, given how much she was emphasising his magical power. If she was going to be so insistent on him being the one they were looking for, he'd just have to make his own claim.
>*Sorry, you've got the wrong guy! Just like you said, I'm a roaming bandit. Nothing special here, I just happened upon something shiny and decided to sell it for bread and wine! You don't need to worry about me that much.*
Yup, that's me! Patrick Frye, Ace of Flames, proprietor of The Frye Compendium and appropriator of historical goods, at your service!
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 19 Oct 2015 10:02:48 AM No.41117456>>41117457
>>41117455 Yes, General. Did you think I was just a normal solider?
>If so, then the army's reputation was overly embellished... or this man was an idiot. Though the latter was quickly confirmed. He could have lied and it would have been her word against his for the moment, he could have gotten away with it. >AAAAAAAAAAAND YET HE WAS SPOUTING THE TRUTH!!
...
...
Well, *ahem* I suppose that proves it well enough.
>Victoria actually turns to look at him with the most flat look of dull surprise she could muster.
You sir, are an idiot.
>An idiot with a cute butt, but an idiot all the same. That made their trip here much quicker then it would be.
Very well then General, thank you for capturing this thorn in our side. We'll be sure that he gets his just deserts for his crimes...
>As the tubby man was about to motion for his guard to take Patrick, Victoria steps forward.
I'll have to say no to that High Priest Oliver. As many of his assaults have made problems for the Church, they have done the same for the Royal army. As such, I will have to process him though our system first before... and if, I hand him over to you.
>The statement clearly ruffles the feathers of the fat man, but other then huff and get a little red in the face, he does nothing to oppose her.
Very well General Neige! I can only pray you see it fit to hand him over to us to feel true justice!
>With that, the High Priest, turns and toddles away with his two guards and the relic in tow. Victoria waits until the doors of the great church have shut once again before she comments.

>>41117456 <"You, sir, are an idiot."
>Definitely couldn't argue with that one. There was intelligence hidden somewhere in that noggin, sure, but decent common sense and a certain amount of control over impulse? Not so much. Still, it turned out better than it could've been.
Well, I've gotta say I'd much prefer to be in your company than his, Miss Neige.
>At least now he had something of a name to put to the face. Far easier on the eyes, and seemingly less likely to result in nasty things happening, as far as he knew. Still, the end result had him clapped in chains and helpless to watch the artifact he'd been attempting to get hold of slip out of his grasp. It wasn't the first time, but it was the most important.
But you do know I'm gonna have to come by and get that back at some point, right? Right?

>>41117505 Who-ho-hoa, next time?
>In a non-threatening display, even with his hands bound behind his back, a small flame lit up on his shoulder. If nothing else, it was a display that his magic was back at a decent capacity, especially after having had the time to rest for the last few days, but even if he lacked some measure of restraint Patrick knew better than to cause a fuss in the middle of the city, with his hands bound.
What's to say things won't go differently next time?
>At the very least, it seemed his enthusiasm hadn't been diminished through defeat. But, like any good prisoner, he relinquished those thoughts and let the flame go out, shrugging his shoulders.
Besides, I don't know if you've seen the fatality count on my so-called 'misadventures', but I'm pretty sure it's a zero.
Victoria Neige!aLEJudith. 19 Oct 2015 2:33:16 PM No.41117714>>41117747
>>41117656 >Seeing his a flame appear on his shoulder and his response to her, she gives a bemused chuckle.
Well I suppose it could go differently, we'll have to see.
>Honestly, she'd look forward to it if fate decided to have them clash once again. But for now, other things must be done. >Climbing into the carriage again, she does take into consideration that he's telling the truth about his 'fatality' count given how bluntly he told the truth before when it didn't suit him.
In that case, you'll only own several dozen Certani in damages~
